Greets and performs customer service responsibilities for patients
and visitors. Responsible for the safe, timely and efficient
movement of patients and the transport of supplies and equipment to
patient care areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Transports patients via gurney, wheelchair and bed to ancillary
Maintains patient comfort, safety and privacy while
Notifies appropriate licensed personnel when patient complains of
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that
optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of
medical/health care errors.
Retrieves/delivers medical records to requesting departments.
Delivers equipment and supplies to patient care areas as
Takes specimens to the laboratory for processing.
Disinfects gurneys, wheelchairs between patients.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development
over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age
appropriate care to the patients served. Able to interpret data
about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's age
specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
Prioritizes work and provides prompt and efficient service.
Maintains established hospital departmental policies and
procedures, objectives, performance improvement activities, safety,
environmental and infection control standards.
Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time
Maintains a good working relationship within the department and
with other departments.
Communicates clearly and appropriately to healthcare staff.
Greets patients and visitors in a caring professional manner.
Responds promptly to patient and visitor inquiries and
Provides hospital information and directions to patients/visitors
Refers patient/visitors problems and complaints to appropriate
Escorts patients/visitors to departments when appropriate.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Current BLS certification.
Trained as an emergency medical technician, licensed practical
nurse: respiratory therapist or other clinically related field
