Falls, Montana, 59405! Job Title: Cardiovascular Intensive Care

Minimum 2 years required License: Current RN Licensure in Montana
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Recent open heart
recovery nurse experience required. Trained to care for immediate
postoperative open heart patients. Description: The Cardiovascular
Intensive Care Nurse will work in a 10-bed unit. This position
requires experience with higher acuity patients and critical care
training. The nurse will provide care to hemodynamically stable or
predictably unstable patients in a cardiac medical surgical unit.
The anticipated patient populations include pediatrics, pre and
post PCI care, pacemaker, revascularization, carotid
endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT,
PE, sepsis, and a broad scope of surgical services. Staff will
expect patients in relative stability while recognizing diagnoses
that may require skilled assessment and intervention for potential
deterioration. The nurse will be required to operate advanced
medical equipment, including central lines, chest tubes,
nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, A-lines, multiple
IVs, and patients requiring short-term ventilation support. Care
will also be provided for general medical and surgical patients on
the inpatient unit. The nurse must have the ability to assess and
implement established policies and procedures with minimal
supervision. The position requires acting as a clinical leader and
assisting with precepting staff. Direct patient care will be
provided from admission to discharge, including discharge planning.
Knowledge of advanced nursing principles and critical care is
essential. Skills required include the use of multiple IV pumps and
the ability to operate advanced medical equipment, including
A-lines, invasive lines, and ventilatory support. Basic cardiac
telemetry and EKG interpretation skills are also necessary. 5
