Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Great Falls, MT Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,038 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Great Falls, Montana, 59405! Job Title: Progressive Care Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Current RN Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (required within 6 months of hire) Must-Have: Pediatric experience preferred; experience in post heart catheterization preferred Description: The Progressive Care Nurse will provide care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients in a medical/surgical setting. This includes providing physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to the patient. Anticipated patient populations may include pediatrics, pre and post PCI care, pacemaker patients, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis, and a broad scope of surgical services. Staff will expect patients to maintain relative stability while recognizing that diagnoses may require skilled assessment and intervention tools for potential deteriorating conditions. The nurse will be required to operate advanced medical equipment and care for patients with central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, arterial lines, multiple IVs, and patients requiring short-term ventilation support. The nurse provides care for general medical and surgical patients in the inpatient unit. Collaboration with other professional disciplines will ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Nurses will effectively interact with patients and significant others while maintaining the standards of professional nursing. They will have the ability to assess and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision. The nurse acts as a clinical leader and assists with precepting staff. Direct care will be provided for patients from admission to discharge, including discharge planning. The nurse will provide directions to other staff members and receive directions from providers and nursing leadership. The Progressive Care Nurse will also support the medical surgical nursing unit when staffing actions are required. Knowledge of basic office equipment, multiple IV pumps, and advanced medical equipment is essential. Nurses must be proficient in operating A-lines, invasive lines, and chest tubes. Experience with both noninvasive and invasive ventilatory support, as well as basic cardiac telemetry and EKG interpretation, is required. Advanced nursing principles and procedures will guide practice.
