Position Summary The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for delivering professional nursing care to residents of all ages in a long-term care setting, under the guidance of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. The LPN applies nursing principles relevant to the clinical environment and demonstrates proficiency within the full scope of nursing practice. This role involves utilizing age-appropriate standards to address the physical and psychosocial needs of residents as outlined in their care plans. The LPN is expected to: Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents. Assist in resident assessments and administer prescribed medications or treatments. Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as necessary. Document interactions with residents and outcomes related to their care, medication, behavior, activities, and dietary needs. Build and maintain effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the community. Collaborate effectively as part of an interdisciplinary care team. Communicate clearly while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Advise residents and their families on prevention and treatment plans under the direction of a registered nurse or physician. Utilize knowledge of resident education principles to create self-care programs. Perform additional related duties as assigned. Qualifications Applicants must meet the following criteria: Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse; an Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred. If IV therapy/management skills are required, candidates must have graduated from a Board-approved AASPN program that includes IV therapy in the curriculum or completed an IV Therapy course sanctioned by the North Dakota Board of Nursing. Completion of a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the lifespan, or a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN in another facility. Specific roles may have additional educational or training requirements. Possession of an unencumbered LPN license from the State Nursing Board and/or multi-state licensure privileges. Commitment to obtaining and maintaining required department-specific competencies and certifications, including annual continuing education units (CEUs) and competency training.
